Royal Ascot 2013 – Will You Be Visiting?

June 14, 2013

One of the most famous fixtures on the horse racing calendar, Royal Ascot, has come round once again. This year’s event will run from Tuesday 18th to Saturday 22nd June, with the usual excellent line-up in store for spectators.

Regardless of you level of interest in the actual racing, a day at Royal Ascot offers a fantastic experience to all. In fact, one of the most famous aspects of the festival is not the racing itself, but rather the stylish, striking and sometimes downright strange hats worn on Gold Cup Day. While the entire Royal Ascot festival attracts a plethora of delightful millinery, Thursday is the day when the most outlandish hats come out for Ladies’ Day.

If you plan to attend Royal Ascot, it is important to be aware of the dress code for each enclosure and to ensure that your outfit complies. The Royal Enclosure carries the strictest dress code, but dressing smartly is essential in all areas of the race course. For more information, have a look at the blog post we wrote last year: What to Wear to Royal Ascot.

Tickets are still available for Royal Ascot so, if you have just this minute decided that you would like to go, you still have time. Get in touch today for more information and for ticket bookings. Remember we can also help you to source and put together the perfect outfit for your Ascot experience.

Another new month means another set of important dates which you may not want to miss. The Steward’s Enclosure at Henley, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and the Queen’s Official Birthday all feature in our round-up of dates for your diary.

The Henley Royal Regatta will take place from 3rd-7th July and enclosure badges are now available to buy via the Regatta website. The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre will take to the stage once more from 16th May until 8th September. Tickets for all shows, from To Kill A Mockingbird to Dinosaur Zoo via Pride and Prejudice and The Sound of Music, can now be purchased online.  Tickets are priced from £15-£53, dependant on show and price band selected.

Trooping The Colour

Although the Queen’s actual birthday falls in mid-April, her official birthday is celebrated during the summer when good weather is more likely. This year, the official Trooping The Colour at the Queen’s Birthday Parade will take place on 15th June but the first rehearsal will be on the last Saturday of May.  The Household Division (Foot Guards and Household Cavalry) are the regiment responsible for Trooping The Colour along Horse Guards Parade.

As well as the events mentioned above, there are numerous gigs, exhibitions and sporting events taking place across London in May. Some highlights are listed below – as always, if you would like to attend one of these, or any other event, please do not hesitate to get in touch to find out how we can help you.

Things to do in March – Henley Royal Regatta, Royal Ascot and Rajdhani

March 4, 2013

Royal Ascot and the Henley Royal Regatta are two of the most events on the British sporting calendar. Neither will take place for a couple of months yet but, if you want to attend, you will need to apply in March.

Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot

Perhaps one of the most quintessentially British social events, Royal Ascot will take place from Tuesday 18th to Saturday 22nd June 2013. Those wishing to gain entry to the Royal Enclosure should submit their application and sponsorship this month. Full information on the requirements can be found on the Royal Ascot website.  Tickets for other areas of the racecourse are now on sale, with an early bird discount applicable until Friday 26th April.

Henley Royal Regatta

One of the best know regattas in the world, the Henley Royal Regatta, is set to attract thousands of visitors during its run from 3rd-7th July 2013. The five day event will see over two hundred races take place on the river, with competitors including Olympians and first-time competitors alike. Applications for spectator badges for both the Steward’s Enclosure and Royal Enclosure will shortly be opened, with full details available on the Henley Royal Regatta website. If you would like to cruise the Thames and watch the Henley Regatta in style, have a look at our blog about the beautifully restored Rajdhani cruiser.
